West Gaines School Community Center Celebrates Historic County Commission Vote 🛠🔑

Lawrenceburg, TN – The West Gaines School Community Center is elated to announce that the Lawrence County Commission has unanimously voted to donate the property back to the community. This landmark decision paves the way for the renovation of the historic colored school building into a Black historical learning center, a project that has been a long-held dream for many residents.

Some of the renovations of the West Gaines School Community Center will include:

– A state-of-the-art museum showcasing the history of Black residents, including their contributions to the communities cultural, economic, and social fabric.

– Educational programs for students of all ages, focusing on Black history, culture, and current events.

– Community events and gatherings, such as lectures, film screenings, and cultural celebrations.

The West Gaines School Community Center is committed to working with community members, historians, and educators to ensure that the Black historical learning center is a valuable resource for the entire community.
